It’s time. Mistakes were made with the old modpack. Time and care wasn’t taken configure it properly, and as a result, performance began to suffer. On top of it all, the Resonant Rise team blindsided us with the new 3.3 release which is effectively a clean-slate to the old packs. So, I bid our old world creations farewell (most everyone has quit playing on it anyways) and now have for you our spiffy NEW minecraft server!
This server will be on the same 32Gb, SSD equipped Windows 2012R2 dedicated server that we moved the last one to. The biggest change under the hood is that it is no longer running a Vanilla-Forge Minecraft server. The new pack is running on a Cauldron server. Cauldron is an alternative, ground-up Minecraft server based on the efforts in the Bukkit and Spigot server projects. It’s faster, more memory efficient, allows mod, as well as server-side plugins.
Speaking of server-side plugins, I have installed the infamous “WorldEdit” which allows the creative people to transform terrain quickly, regenerate things, etc. “ClearLagg” should be doing periodic cleanups as well to keep performance tip top and “Essentials” to handle a lot more server tricks, like /home and /back commands.
On top of it is the new ground-up rebuild of Resonant Rise, version 3.3. There are a lot of familiar mods and some interesting new ones. I’ll let you guys explore them all in-game.
