Well over a year ago I was recruited into Oddysee, my online gaming was limited, but Star Citizen offered me a chance to meet some interesting people. I read the initial kickstarter project in PC Gamer, and checked it out. The game has changed a lot since then.
The original concept for the game has probably altered slightly, and Chris Roberts has probably fleshed it out a lot more, complicated it a lot more, and added a lot more. Oddysee itself, from my first encounter has changed as well, but my job has remained the same, and so has my objective.
The Pathfinder/ Recon section of Intel is the part I am responsible for (though I haven’t been able to say that in RSI chat for a long time), exploring space and exploiting the enemies weaknesses. Original discussions with High Command and other officers (notably our late friend Apple Joe) had us positioned as explorers only, and when the shift to Intel was made possible with further discussions with Alasmon Necrithious (Cykhat) more changes were made to the initial duties of the Pathfinders. The role is not static, just like the other roles within Oddysee, they will shift when they are needed, you may be needed to explore a asteroid field or take part in combat. The choice is entirely yours.
SC has released another patch, and the wait is endless, I want to be out there with all our 302 brothers in arms, not just small groups. I want a strike of 20 Ghost Hornets to surgically remove an enemy defense force unaware of our presence. I want to claim a Bengal in my battered but invincible Carrack and scream back at all the doubters out there (and you know who you are you bastards) “I TOLD YOU I WOULD FIND IT!
It will arrive, the game in its entirety, just like the Reliant that found its way into my hanger with the last patch, and despite the naysayers and pessimists, we need to be ready.
The pilots need to be ready.
The marines need to be ready.
Oddysee needs to be ready.
