I thought with a hiatus of 2 months I would be able to write a spectacular and thought provoking piece on Star Citizen. Unfortunately CIG have their own plans.

In my previous attempts to load into Star Citizen, I have been able to get in and fly a bit, and a diehard like myself refuses to give up. The first trip was a trip in the Hornet from Port Olisar to Daymar. Waking in the bunk, going down request your ship and buckling in on the launchpad and starting out in the universe. The flight was about 20 minutes but much what I had expected, but the fighter down through the atmosphere was above my expectations.

Elite Dangerous  has space travel, but not to the same extent do you feel the same about the journey. Landing planetside, leaving your ship and walking across the soil of an alien planet and visiting a rescue habitat is as close to the real thing as one could imagine.

Long absent from Star Citizen though, is a lot of players. Many seek refunds, or have not even attempted to run it and uninstalled the game. There are the persistent few, making the runs and doing the few missions that are out there, but even the hardiest of us are losing faith.

I would like to sit down with Chris Roberts and discuss it over a cup of tea, but I have a feeling he won’t be returning my phone calls. I am trying to distance myself from it, but I have no other game that I WANT to enjoy above all others. The ideas, the depth and the visuals are all there. It just needs to work.

For all of us here waiting Chris, let’s get on with it.

A huge science fiction fan, from Star Trek to BSG to Firefly, From Arthur C Clarke to Robert A.Heinlein, from Frank Frazetta to H.R.Giger. Many long Canadian winter nights watching, reading and sketching just fuels my imagination. And Star Citizen is a game that also fuels the imagination.
