Star Citizen Angst

I have been patient. I have been so very patient for Star Citizen to be playable in a true sense. And the angst that pervades me will not go away until CR releases it. I miss the old RSI chat, I miss the focus on the game we all started with, I miss the intense discusions on what the lore will be, the “theorycrafting” as Demonseed Elite once put it, I miss the feeling of belonging.

Yes I play other games, I play Ark and I play Arma III, I have even messed around with Space Engineers, Elite Dangerous and Homeworld Remastered, but nothing seems to compare with the promise that SC brings to the table.  Those who haven’t tried the game, dismiss it out of hand, but once bitten….

Vrax always says that people will come back to us when the game is released, that its unplayable for the most part and the “Bossman” says that we will be working on our organisation when the game gets released, but what happens if the game comes out and people are dissappointed? That’s perhaps my biggest fear.

Perhaps its good I chose the explorer role from the very first, I guess I’ll get to put in a lot of hours in the vast lonliness of space, in my Carrack, with my dog on the floor beside me, drinking coffee and occasionally checking Discord to see if anyone wants to play SC.

When I get into the PU now, I am lucky if I can get to my ship. Greifing is alive and well, if I’m stuck on GrimHex, I get stuck there a long time. Flagged, I have everyone looking to gun me down, and I have no Oddyseeans to back me up. No one is on, so its just me spending hours in the vast lonliness of space. I have the same problem in AC, unless I rent a ship and load ‘er up, the Hornet Ghost is the ship I usually fly, and those that I fight against use one of three tactics.

Missile spamming.

Ramming.

Jumping out when they begin to lose.

Now how much fun is that?

We need more astronauts please.

A huge science fiction fan, from Star Trek to BSG to Firefly, From Arthur C Clarke to Robert A.Heinlein, from Frank Frazetta to H.R.Giger. Many long Canadian winter nights watching, reading and sketching just fuels my imagination. And Star Citizen is a game that also fuels the imagination.
