Hello Oddyseans. Today I’m back with another ship review. However contrary to normal this ship doesn’t have thrusters or wings. No this is a true and proper ship. The United States Navy Atlanta. The Atlanta was a light cruiser commissioned on December 24 1941. The Atlanta took place in the Battle of Midway, the Battle of the Eastern Solomons as an escort ship until it was sunk during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal.

In World of Warships the Atlanta is a tier seven premium cruiser. Its primary armament is sixteen 127mm/38 Mk32 mod. 12 guns in 8 turrets. With a base reload of 5 seconds the Atlanta can put out a huge amount of shells per minute. These multiple fast firing guns make the Atlanta a great Destroyer destroyer. By moving the aiming reticule around while firing the Atlanta can cover a relatively large area in shells. These American 127mm guns are also dual purpose armament. This makes the Atlanta a deadly AA cruiser. While the armament of the Atlanta is fantastic it does have a few downsides. The first is the range. The base firing range is only 11.1km. In addition to this the shell arc of the Atlanta is very high. This means that the amount of target lead at range is very long. This can be used to your advantage however when trying to shoot over islands. The Atlanta is also one of three American cruisers to be armed with torpedoes. As tantalizing as this may sound they are still American torpedoes. The Atlanta has one triple launcher one each side. The Torpedoes only have a range of 4.5km and a reload of 98 seconds. One redeeming quality is there above average speed of 65 knots. This makes them good for two things. Surprising enemies coming around a corner and distracting destroyers you are hunting down. The maneuverability of the Atlanta is average and the armor is poor.

My experience with the Atlanta is that it is a fun but situational ship. The fast firing guns make it fun to fight destroyers and it makes an excellent escort cruiser but it can’t take hits well at all. If you get on ocean just forget it.The Battleships will just destroy you before you can get in range. However if you can hug islands and surprise people the Atlanta can put out a large amount of damage and a division of them is just lethal. If you want to have a lot of fun in a he spamming cruiser it doesn’t get much better. However if you would rather make credits you would be better off with one of the tier 8 premium ships.
