//Welcome back//
Another day another dime, or so they say. Hope you all have been having an excellent month so far. It’s been a semi busy month for myself both in regards to Oddysee and my personal life; but you’re not here to hear about the personal life. So let’s get to the nitty and gritty of what’s been going on in the ol’ behind the scenes of Oddysee.
//Organisation Changes//
There’s not much going on in terms of great organisation changes however we have got a few that we discussed in a meeting. Some of them you guys will be interested in some maybe not. How does it change things on a day to day basis? Well… it really doesn’t change much. But enough of that, lets get riiiiight into it.
//Community meetings//
One idea we’ve been tossing up for a while now is community meetings. We feel that you as members might not feel like your voice is being heard or maybe you guys have some good idea’s that we simply haven’t thought of. As such we will hold Bi Monthly meetings for you all to turn up to as you guys want and you can voice your opinions and idea’s through there!
Meetings are normally held on the last weekend of every month for Officers, so we might hold it then or on the second weekend of every other month.
//Bot Support//
At Oddysee, we love creativity, and we want to show our members that what you create we will support. However recently we ran into some issues with this. One of our members (Ryu) created an awesome bot that seems to have excellent functionality, however as it was rather new there we teething issues.
Due to this we’ve had to rethink some of our rules for allowing bots and other tools that our members create out into the general Oddysee environment. The main features are, for any tools or appliances that our members create we will have two requirements;
- No Admin functionality (This is due to the fact that this can potentially cause issues, both for members security and ours.) To circumvent breaches this measure has to be taken.
- For bots, they will be limited to a single room until they have been properly vetted for any issues.
//Newsletter Changes//
//Consistancy//
One of the biggest issues we’ve had as of late is that there’s a severe lack of consistency with the newsletter. You know it, I know it. So how are we planning to fix it? The answer? Mondays.
The first Monday of every month will be the day we plan to have it out. It might be anytime during that Monday. But expect it. That way during the week whilst you’re having a Smoke-o you can take a moment to sit back, relax and read the newsletter.
//Easier Submissions//
We’ve always pushed for member creativity. In fact it’s one of our core pillars. Yet, we haven’t advertised how. Strange isn’t it? So we’re pushing for author rights within the website. This allows you to put your voice out there and be heard by fellow Oddysee members, whether it’s about games, funny stuff or whatever else that you can think of (within our rules of course).
//Back and Org Tool//
Now I’d love to spice this up and let you know about all the changes the skoma’s been making to the Org tool. But it’s a bit too much for me to let you know. Sooooo I’ll just be copy pasting that part. We’re also in the talks about setting up the Org tool as a Looking for group and Organisation Scraper from the RSI website. Enough about that, lets get to the juicy changes.

//Closing//
If you’ve made it to the end of this at the helm, Congratulations! Shoot me a message and I’ll say it via discord voice if that’s what gets you going haha. But in all seriousness, thanks for making it to the end and reading through another at the Helm. The administration as well as myself would like to thank all of you for taking the time out of your day to read what’s going on at Oddysee.
The team works hard on putting these together every month so every person who reads it is excellent.
Remember, if you have friends or anyone you like who you know is looking for a community to be a part of, send them over to Oddysee. If you know them and like them, I’m sure we will too. With that, I’m signing off of this newsletter, see you all on discord and tune in next month for another At the helm.
Kind Regards
Cykhat
