Xe’ sue len Oddyseeans
A large part of exploration in the Pathfinder Division will have to do with finding jump points, resources and the enemy, very little is said about the encountering of alien races, at least not yet. I watched the live stream from CitizenCon 2947, and another race was introduced along with a bit of their background.
The Xi’an.
The alien race that “ have served as foils, both politically and socially”.
Reptilian in appearance, from a warm, jungle planet where they evolved (according to the lore provided) from carrion eaters to long living diplomats. The Vanduul would be considered the apex predator, but it is interesting to note that the XI’an use diplomacy rather than brute force, perhaps their long life span allows for opportunistic planning for the survival of their species.
A bloody past, which almost destroyed their culture was alluded to, and perhaps a realization of how close they came caused them to implement the current governing structure.
They no longer reside on RyiX’yan, their homeworld, but they serve an empire which suggests a conquering and governing instinct, and the young are given to the Emperor’s House to serve for a mandatory period of time, perhaps to indoctrinate them into the Xi’an way and train them to serve the emperors’ directives. Once the servitude is complete, they join the House of their mothers line, again perhaps to ensure their survival, placing the emphasis on the importance of the matriarchy and the female of the species above the male.
Though I would expect a diplomatic solution to any negotiations with this race, I believe they would always be inclined to agreements where they hold the upper hand, not necessarily an equitable one. Survival of their race is ingrained.
And, after all, they are politicians.
