Another Month Down…

Work continues to trek on with Star Citizen development.  As CIG gears up for a 2.6.1 release, it was exciting to hear about work on the AI, and the dynamic music system which I had no idea how much was involved with.  This last month was hectic for me at work and I barely had much time to relax, let alone ponder about what new things are on the horizon for us with Star Citizen.  I had suspicion that the AI system stalled their plans to release the vertical slice of Squadron 42, but as Tony Zurovek pretty much confirmed it in the AtV about Engineering Intelligence.  As he said though, Subsumption is one of those programming systems that has to be like 90% “done” before a non-programmer can even “see” the results.  It’s not something you can mock up and hack together as you go, and it controls AI behavior on the most basic levels and in the strangest of areas like mission generation and pathfinding.  They’re certainly getting very close though and it’ll be exciting to see the system in place when it goes live.  I’m sure it’ll make the universe seem a more living, breathing place, filled with exciting and dynamic people… for us to destroy!   …If the price is right of course.  😀

Anyways, that’s all I have for this month.  Now that things are winding down a bit from the holiday season and the headaches at work with getting a branch office’s network 2500 miles away up and running without issue are largely behind me, I plan to do a bit of catch-up on Star Citizen.  Till next time, Demonseed out!
