//Welcome Back//

Hey all and welcome back to another at the helm. This is Cy reporting from the cold icy but snowless tundra that is Australia. It’s the start of a new year! Well at least for the ‘At the helms’ as we’re now up to #13. We had an officer/board meeting the Saturday that just passed and we’ve got some excellent stuff in the works. With Star Citizen 2.4 set to launch Soon™ the groups prepping to do more. The newsletter will also cover what’s going to happen with the ARK server as well as some changes to discord.

//Star Citizen 2.4 and Streaming//

With 2.4 on the Horizon and Star Citizen being the origin of Oddysee we will be turning back to our roots in the coming months. We’ve tried to go too big too fast and have deviated from our original purpose quite a bit. Now, there isn’t anything wrong with that in the slightest as the game is still far from being ‘Launched’ but more is explained on Demonseeds SOD update so I won’t be going too in-depth.

With that in mind we will be endorsing those who would like to stream content for Oddysee. Currently we have Cuore listed as down to stream 2.4 content with the potential guest starring of other Oddysee members. So please, show your love for Cuore as he gets his stream up and running.

We will be looking into dual streaming options, one that all Oddysee endorsed streamers can ‘stream’ to as well as to their own.

//Fort Night events//

One of the biggest things we’ve been promising since the start of this year is more events. More opportunities for you to interact with other members. It’s been a long time coming but we’re finally getting that setup. Every two weeks we will host some kind of ‘formalized’ game night which will be run by the officers within Oddysee. The two weekly events will be called ‘Fort Nights’.

Coming up this weekend we have Woodhaus hosting an Overwatch get together followed up by a Star Citizen even the week after (Back to back events?!)

//The closing of the ARK server//

Unfortunately, due to various circumstances as well as a general lack of interest our ARK server has been stagnating. There are hardly any players if any who jump on anymore and as such going forward once the period runs out the server won’t be renewed. This has been decided due to logistical issues of maintaining an ARK server both in terms of the time and money required.

All is not lost however, within the ashes there remains embers softly glowing. Hints of a possible new server perhaps? Time will tell.

//More news, more often//

To mark the shift in thinking of articles being written specifically for the newsletter, all content contributors on the site going forward will be encouraged to write articles without the newsletter in mind, that way at the end of the month as it becomes time to compose a new Newsletter we can cover highlights over the past month.

This is in a bid to get more activity on the Oddysee website to occur as well as make the job a little bit easier for our Newsletter Editor.

//A Late Welcome//

Last month, unfortunately due to circumstances we were not able to get an at the helm written up. One of the key changes that I personally wanted to go over was the changing of our Newsletter editors from Cains to Evly.

Cains has been an excellent Newsletter editor and unfortunately situations change, real life occurs, priorities shift, a whole myriad of things could occur. However, whatever the reason Cains has as of last month resigned as the Newsletter editor and handed the reigns over to Evly. He will however continue to contribute to the newsletter.

However, I believe in the mantra as one good thing comes to an end, another begins. Evly has shown time and time again her commitment to Oddysee, not only with her presence but also through her continued interaction and support for the group and passion for the group. With Cains’ personal recommendation for her to become the new Newsletter editor I couldn’t agree with him more.

Please show your support now and going forward to our excellent new Newsletter editor Evly. She will undoubtedly make sure that you hear the best of Oddysee.

//Closing//

I’d like to thank you all for tuning in to another Oddysee Newsletter. It means a lot to the administration who puts in the time to get all of the articles together. It also means quite a lot to me personally. I hope you look forward to the next At the Helm and the changes mentioned in this issue.

Kind regards

Cykhat
