GOOOOOD MORNIN ODDYSEE!!!
Exciting times in Star Citizen these days, can you FEEL it? We are finally teetering on the release of AC2.0/PTU0.1! THIS is where the magic is going to REALLY start happening! The base-level code is nearly complete which means from here on out, CIG is going to be rolling content and the SLEW of secondary systems needed to support the best damn space sim the world has ever seen! That means soon we’ll be seeing the following:
- Jump-point navigation – They are hard at work finishing off Nyx landing zone when the question came up “How are we going to let the players mess with it?!” which prompted the logical conclusion “Well, we better get jump-points finalized working then!”
- Missions – They’re already grinding some of these out! MobiGlas is a reality and the first module active seems to be a mission log system. Expect more to start filtering in.
- Economy – Why take missions on good-will alone? Show us the cold hard cred! Economic systems will start appearing and most likely, we’ll be able to start earning pre-launch credits to play around with.
- Trading – The Convalex Shipping Hub in Crusader isn’t just for looks. At some point, it’ll be a trade-hub for all sorts of wares you can haul around the ‘verse
- Mining & Salvage – Won’t take too much to get the rocks and wrecks in the game, just need to finalize the mechanics of how to bust them up and make a profit
In addition, expect to see character creation take a leap to the forefront soon, as well as shopping in places like ArcCorp once the economy goes online. NPCs I’m sure are being worked on as assets get made and the LONG delayed “Star Marine” simulator module will help the devs refine FPS combat as much as they helped refine the amazing ship combat seen in Arena Commander.
This was the year of “gluing everything together”, and while it took almost nine tiresome months, they finally have an advanced build of the game with all the sound, lighting, physics and core systems they’ve been building towards.
Oh yea… and MORE SHIPS, MORE GUNS, MORE UPGRADES, ARMOR, PERSONAL EFFECTS! None of these systems are going to stop the ship and object pipeline developers and artists from stopping what they’re all doing to twiddle their thumbs!
What’s the next year mean for Strategic Operations Division? It means we’ll be having something to do besides shoot up Vanduul in endless predictable swarms. We’ll be protecting ships, running escorts, fighting pirates, hunting bounties. Spend that REC and toy around with outfitting your favorite combat ship, it’s going to be a wild ride in 2016!
